Health Insurance
Health insurance is often quite expensive to maintain, but the results of not having it can be disastrous. The most common way for the average person to this type of insurance is through their employers. However, many of those that are self-employed or unemployed often have to pay for this out of their own pocket.
The health insurance industry has been going through some fairly major adjustments in recent years. There is a substantial movement in the United States to implement a government sponsored health care plan that would cover every citizen, regardless of any previous conditions, and this has raised numerous concerns within the industry as a whole. Many insurance companies claim that this could potentially put them out of business.
On the opposite side of the coin, there are many people that make the point that insurance companies have shot themselves in the proverbial foot. By refusing to cover those with certain ailments or previous conditions, and by rejecting insurance claims from paying customers for prescribed procedures, they have forced the country to look for other options instead. Many experts in the field point to the systems used by other countries like Japan and Germany as possible solutions here at home.
